Story
Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page!
On Monday 31st March 2014, Hannah, Tom & Naomi will be hitchhiking with Leeds RAG Jailbreak! Our powers of persuasion will be put to the test, as we only have 36 hours to get as far away from Leeds Uni as we can without spending a penny!
We are raising money for Brain Tumour Research and Support Across Yorkshire (BTRS) because brain tumour research is massively under-funded, but is the only way that a cure can be found.
In January 2011, Yorkshire's first brain tumour research lab was launched at Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine (LIMM). Research is progressing into a number of new areas such as oncogenes (the presence of special genes in our cells that may be associated with cancer) and the abnormal production of specialised growth factors. Most recently, a new vaccine is being trialled which could help improve the survival of patients with a specific type of brain tumour called glioblastoma mutiforme.
But there are over 120 different types of brain tumours, which means there are lots of cures needed to be found! Please support us to help BTRS with their amazing work!
This charity is particularly important to Naomi, as her cerebellar astrocytoma was successfully treated during her childhood.
Any size of donation will be gratefully received and much appreciated.
THANK YOU!
From Hannah, Tom & Naomi
