Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am cycling from Lands End to John O' Groats the furthest possible distance in the UK with my lovely boyfriend Daniel.
The money I raise will go to the NSPCC a UK children's charity with statutory powers to safeguard children at risk of abuse.
Daniel will also be raising money for Alzheimer's Society. You can find out more and donate to his charity via the following link http://www.justgiving.com/daniel-gallucci
The NSPCC has 180 teams and projects working to protect children accross England, Whales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands
These services include helplines, young peoples centres, school teams and childrens rights and advocacy projects.
Each week one child is killed by their parent or carer.
The NSPCC's 24hr child protection helpline answers on average 235 calls a day.
Over 30000 children are on child protection registers.
The NSPCC helps many vunrable children, who without its invaluable work, would have nowhere else to turn.
£1 could provide crayons for children to illustrate their feelings when they find it hard to talk.
£11 could pay to log, process and respond to an email identifying a child at risk.
£14 could pay for a child protection officer to deal with a call to the NSPCC child helpline.
We will be leaving on the 15th August 2011 to cycle 1000 miles and aiming to do this in 20 days.
Ben at 'Cycle Recycle' (in the ATC) Hebden Bridge has kindly agreed to donate a bike for me to do it on, which will be raffled off when we have finished. All the proceeds will go to the NSPCC.
Please sponsor me to help this cause. I know alot of you don't have much money but anything you can give will be greatly appreciated!
I will keep you all updated on how the fundraising is going and will add some pictures soon.
We had the Halifax Courier and the Hebden Bridge Times round yesterday. Hopefully being in the paper will generate sponsorship and awareness for our charities. They will be running a story on us at the end of this week so keep your eyes peeled!
