Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 2nd January 2013 my life changed completely when I suffered a major stroke and, following some severe swelling, I ended up in Kings on life support. There was no warning and to this day we do not know why, but for the first couple of weeks my family did not know if I would pull through.
I spent the next 10 months in hospital, including a specialist neuro-rehabilitation centre. Tragically, within this time, I also had to deal with the unexpected loss of both of my parents. Everything I have done, I have done knowing they would be proud of me.
It's been an exhausting year, slowly having to learn to do the most basic tasks, but everyday I'm getting stronger, mainly because of the amazing support of the physios , the occupational health team and all the staff at Kings, Maidstone and Sevenoaks hospitals. With the added support of my wonderful husband Andrew and two girls, Bethany and Katy, I am determined to keep improving.
My next milestone is to walk part way, with Jane, up Maidstone high street, as part of the Step out for Stroke day. This is in aid of the Stroke Association-an amazing charity making a real difference to people just like me. So little is known about strokes and the work of this charity is vital so please help me by giving just a couple of pounds.
