Everything else is the total we've raised over the last two years.
24.01.11 Green Watch Hove firefighters next challenge will involve 9 of the watch running this years Brighton Marathon. 4 guys will be looking to run good times around the 3hr 30 mark while the other 5 will be fireman-carrying two 30kg training dummies between them and hopefully finishing in under 6 hours. We're looking to raise £4000 for chestnut tree hospice again with anything extra going to the firefighters charity.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page. Green watch is one of four watches at Hove fire station which is part of East Sussex s fire and rescue service. We are currently running at a watch strength of 13 with a large majority of the watch being together now for at least 6-8 years. Over the past two years we have started to set ourselves challenges as a watch and individually. These have involved setting world records, running marathons, memorial runs and pulling fire appliances. Each of these challenges have involved raising money for various causes and charities with our main charity being chestnut tree childrens hospice. We also try to link fire service initiatives to our challenges for example our pole drop record was set at a road safety awareness day that we organized. Are truck pull promoted the dangers of distractions while driving/being a pedestrian/or passenger to children aged 7-11 in schools in the hove area. This involved a poster design competition for them to enter, where the winners designs were displayed on the fire appliance we pulled around Hove and Brighton. Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses - such as Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis, Hunters Syndrome, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, multiple disabilities, cancer and progressive genetic disorders - which means that they will probably die before they reach adulthood. Completed in 2003, the hospice provides a 'home from home' environment with 10 children's bedrooms plus 8 family rooms, a wet and dry play area, computer and music rooms, a multi sensory room and hydrotherapy pool. The house is set in beautiful gardens within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Caring for a sick child is a round the clock, exhausting job so it is important for the whole family to have a break, to take time out and relax. There are potentially 400 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological support, care in bereavement therapy, end of life and respite care and sibling support. Chestnut Tree House, located near Arundel costs over £2 million per year to run. Families are not charged for their care and the hospice receives very little government funding so it relies almost entirely on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.
