Story
Dear Sponsor,
I have decided this year to attempt to do my most difficult challenge to date by cycling 2900 miles Coast 2 Coast across the USA, for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Alzheimer’s Society are the leading research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers.
In 2015 there will be 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to 1 million by 2025. The Society touch the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing support through a network of local services.
“I am taking on this challenge in memory of my father who died as a result of contracting this debilitating disease, which reduced him from an outgoing, generous and loving man to someone who in his later years, couldn’t even recognise members of his own family”.
The cycle ride will take me over 2,900 miles from San Diego on the Pacific in the West to San Augustine, Florida on the Atlantic Ocean, in the East.
“I will cycle over mountains and across the plains and deserts, camping out most nights. The trip will take me 51 days to complete”
.
“As always, I am paying my travelling expenses personally (which in this instance are considerable), so every penny of your donation will go directly to the Charity”.
Please also remember that if you make your donation through the ‘Just Giving Website’ the Government adds 25% to your donation.
I do hope that you will choose to support me in raising as much money as I can for a charity that I hold very close to my heart”.
