Story
Both of my nans have been severely affected by Alzheimer's over the last few years which culminated in one of them passing away recently and the other a shadow of her former self. It's really difficult watching those people you care about slowly slip away from you, especially when there is currently no cure for the condition. With the population living longer the number of people affected by the disease is only set to increase making the need to find a cure even more important.
A family member has decided to start a group called 60/600 which has a simple goal; for 60 different people to raise a minimum of £600 for the Alzheimer's Society.
Compelled by the great stories of others taking part and by the suffering of my nans, I have decided to take on a challenge of my own in order to raise as much money as possible. A friend and I have decided to summit the 60 highest mountains in the Lake District all well over 600 metres high within 6 days to link in with the 60/600 theme.
To put that into perspective we will cover 112 miles and ascend over 14000 metres. That's well over 4 marathons and 4 times from Everest base camp to the summit over 3 gruelling weekends!
Any contributions no matter how small would be greatly appreciated towards this great cause.
