For over 15 years, Steve has been involved with Ronald McDonald House Charities, for the past five years as Chair of the Manchester House Board of Governors and he has a passion for keeping families together, close to their children in hospital. Born and bred in Manchester,.
Steve was diagnosed with cancer last year and given a terminal prognosis. Although devastated by the cancer prognosis he is lucky to be here having survived several cardiac arrests in October. His time is limited and he wants to work hard to leave a lasting legacy, something that will have an impact for many years to come. So along with friends and family he is hoping to raise £250,000 for Ronald McDonald House, Manchester so we can help keep families together, close to their children in hospital.
We are aiming to raise £250,000 to refurbish three living areas in the Manchester House. These areas would become larger family rooms. They will each have two separate sleeping areas that could accommodate up to six people, an en suite bathroom and a small informal living space. The rooms will be for longer stay families, or families of five or more people.
Having gone through treatment himself, he understands how a young child might feel, and why it’s so important to keep their family close.
