Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As the Skipper on James Cook, i know only to well how the experience the Ocean Youth Trust North offers changes lives and builds futures. Working with the young people who come onboard is an extremely rewarding experience. This is my opportunity to raise some awareness about the charity and on a personal level make a contribution to fund some deserving youngsters.

This is not a challenge i am taking on my own. Two of our volunteers Georgie and Craig have agreed to complete the race with me. We have been out getting up our miles whenever i am not away sailing. 63 miles is a long way but we are determined to make it!

Ocean Youth Trust North takes young people away from their everyday routine and inspires them to make positive changes to their lives through ‘Adventure under Sail’. We use sailing and the traditional practices of seafaring as tools for personal and social development. The Trust is the sole provider of challenging, residential sailing expeditions in the North of England for youth of all abilities and backgrounds. We partner with youth and educational organisations providing an opportunity for young people to achieve personal growth. The Trust is a member of the Association of Sail Training Organisations and the Institute for Outdoor Learning. It is a Royal Yachting Association Training Centre and approved to run The Duke of Edinburgh Award.
