Story
My dear facebook friends, people I know and all other web stalkers,
I tend not to contribute much on facebook other than cheeky little comments here and there. However, in the pursuance of a very noble charitable cause, I've decided to emerge from the shadows and do a 'post'.
Some of you of similar age will have realised, like I perhaps am realising, there comes a point in life when you awake one morning and remember there is more to living than just work and toil.
It appears my morning has arrived.
Despite have a comfortable life, a beautiful family and great friends, I've just realised there are still challenges to meet, things to see and adventures to have - a life to be lived.
So, starting off with the Lochness Etape in April, I tested the water to see if I could actually break away. And guess what? I did. All 68 gruelling miles in under 5 hours. Not bad for a wee fat lad frae Glamis.
My next adventure is the reason I've broken cover. On the 15th June, Rod Taylor, trusted squire of Carmyllie Parish, and myself will set off on our next adventure to cycle the Outer Hebrides with 48 other emergency service nutters. The 3 days expedition takes us from the Butt of a Lewis (At the top apparently) to the Isle of Barra (Near the bottom) a journey of about 170 miles. In between, there is a variety of merriment and fun to be had - dancing, music, wine, bucket-rattling, hill climbing and general nuisance to the local populace. All, I might add, for the benefit of a very worthwhile cause - McMillan Nurses.
So, to my request. Can I ask you all to consider a donation of whatever amount you can afford or think fitting for the occasion. Even an amount equivalent to the loose change in your sporran, purse or pocket. We would be very grateful for anything and I know whatever you can generously give, will be very much appreciated by those who are cared for by the wonderful people who carry the McMillan badge.
On behalf of wee fat lads everywhere, I thank you in warm anticipation of your support.
