Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

What are they doing?
Three friends (Terry Sweet, Norman Heffer & Tim Smith) are taking on the challenge of buying and riding small-engined motorbikes/scooters around predetermined coastal towns in England & Wales over 5 days/nights, setting off on Sunday,  May 2019, spelling out the word “ALPORTS” by visiting a port or coastal town beginning with each letter.

Aldeburgh (Suffolk) --- Littlehampton (Sussex) --- Poole (Dorset) --- Oxwich Bay (Swansea) --- Rhyl (Denbighshire) --- Trusthorpe (Lincolnshire) --- Southwold (Suffolk)

Terry, Tim and Norman are all used to riding big comfy bikes of 1000cc or more (see picture at top of page); so to make this a challenge and not just a long rideout, each of their chosen "little" bikes must have an engine smaller than 250cc and be purchased for £500 or less.

During their trip, the guys will not be allowed to stay at any hotels,
guesthouses or even bed-down at friends’ homes. Instead, they must find somewhere to pitch their tents each evening and all camping equipment must be carried on the back of their small motorbikes, as there will be no support vehicles following them.

Why are they doing this?

Norman and his family have been directly affected by this terrible disease. Norman’s youngest son, Luke, was diagnosed with this chronic illness back in 2009. He has been on dialysis every day for quite a long period and has very recently (at the age of only 22 years) received a kidney transplant from his uncle.

The guys feel that not enough people know about this devastating condition, so they are hoping to raise awareness and (with your help) much needed funds to further medical research and treatment of this terrible syndrome.
Please give generously.
