Story

All donations will go directly to the charity.

Gita & Clare are self-funding this desert trek in memory of Milan Patel, a fun loving, football mad 14 year old who passed away after a 3 year battle with bone cancer in March 2015.

In January 2012, aged 11, Milan was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer called Ewing's sarcoma. After an operation to remove a lump from his spine, he faced a year of grueling chemotherapy at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Milan had the all clear in December 2012, but, unfortunately the cancer returned in September 2013. He endured a further 4 months of chemotherapy treatment with a subsequent 1 month hospital stay in Birmingham Children's hospital for stem cell transplant and high dose chemotherapy.

Milan again got the all clear in April 2014, but so quickly after, in June 2014, suffered another relapse, and was told in December 2014 that the cancer had spread.

During the whole of this traumatic time Milan had continued to train and play football whenever possible around his treatment cycle. His positive attitude towards his condition and his battle was an inspiration to all.
