I have chosen Trees For Life as my charity because I believe that restoring the bio-diversity and lost woodlands of the UK is the single biggest step we can make in ensuring that our children have a wonderful place to live. It also makes massive economic sense to protect the lands that give us everything from the food we eat to the oxygen in the air.

The restoration of Britain's lost forests will have a positive impact on our battle against climate change by locking up carbon as they grow, will reduce the impact of flooding by slowing the speed at which water gets into the river systems, give shelter and food to our amazing natural fauna, much of which is endangered due to farming and pollution and give us a place to enjoy the wonder of nature close to home.

My aim is to cycle over 5,000 miles in a calendar year and raise £1 for every mile I cycle. This money will be spent in restoring the lost Caledonian Forests of Scotland which once used to cover 1.5 million  hectares, but sadly today just 44,000 acres remain. For any bartenders reading this, the Caledonian Forests are a wonderful home for juniper!
