Story
This year I have decided to make Christmas crackers to raise money for Georgie's Genes. As many of you may remember a couple of years ago I made Christmas wreaths, which I loved doing but the holly wrecked my hands and each one took over an hour to do! I made 30 and raised over £700 which was amazing!
Every year all those plastic, often useless prizes inside crackers, the ribbon and foil wrapping go in the bin and ultimately to landfill. I know many of us are trying to have a more sustainable Christmas. These crackers are made with brown wrapping paper, paper string, wooden Christmas decoration, tissue paper crowns and will have a sweet treat inside made by my nephew and Georgie’s brother Finlay for you to enjoy post turkey!
I am going to sell these at £10 for 6 crackers and any additional crackers at £2 each. I will also be able to post if postage is covered.
🤣I aim to have them ready for collection weekend of 14 December.
By ordering my crackers you are helping to raise much needed funds to build awareness and ultimately find a cure for my gorgeous wee nieces very rare form of Muscular Dystrophy, L-CMD. L-CMD is so rare that there is little knowledge about the disease progression and there is only a handful of children in the UK that have the condition. Currently Georgie can walk unaided for short distances but is unable to climb stairs or get herself from sitting on the floor to standing. She has regular cardiac and respiratory checks and thankfully, for now, her heart and breathing muscles remain healthy.
As her Aunty I want to help raise as much funds as possible to continue to help fund some of the amazing scientists, researchers and doctors dedicated to searching for treatment and ultimately a cure for this debilitating condition. And if I need to make crackers every night from now until Christmas, that is what I will do! I just love her.
Thank you so much!
