Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

I decided to take part in the Derby Triathlon in September 2012, it is a huge undertaking for me, I am reasonably fit, but only swim for fun, cycle now and then and have only run once in my adult life. So I needed a cause to dedicate my effort to - but which one?

And then it hit me- our friend Josie was a triathlete before it was even remotely trendy, then she became ill and died tragically young from ovarian cancer - how about if I raise money for "ovarian cancer action" by completing a triathlon myself.

I should mention here that Josie was the fittest person I knew in our post-grad student days; she swam a mile in her lunch break, kept her bike in the flat with pride of place and her best hangover cure was to go for a run while the rest of us just lay in a heap feeling sorry for ourselves.

Check out my blog at http://derby-tri-or-die.blogspot.com/ to see how I'm getting on. Here's to you Josie!

We are the UK’s leading ovarian cancer research charity. In the UK only 1 in 3 women live more than 10 years after diagnosis. We are working to better prevent, treat and detect ovarian cancer, so that by 2032 at least half of women with ovarian cancer live for 10 years.
