We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to stop women dying from breast cancer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the weekend of September 11th-12th I am going to attempt to complete the 3 Peaks Challenge organised by British Military Fit. (As some of you know I have been training with BMF for 1 year now.)

Our team will start at
Ben Nevis in Scotland at 1344m, then Scarfell in The Lakes at 978m and finally if my feet can bear it Snowdon in Wales at 1085m all in just 24 hours.

This involves walking approx 27.5 miles and driving for about 10 hours.

Please help me reach and hopefully surpass my target of £1,000 in aid of Breast Cancer.

I would like to reach this target by the end of June, so whether you know me personally or through work please put your hands in your pockets and help me raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.

Many thanks and wish me luck and thanks for your support.

Regards,

Giles ( PLEASE SEE BELOW MY PROGRESS )

Saturday 20th March

First training session completed walked around Simonside in Northumberland completed 4 1/2 miles in just over an 1 1/2 hour got home and then ran 3 miles; and two hours latter spent the remaining part of the day walking like a robot. Can only get easier one would hope.

May 7th

Suffered from injury in the last few weeks, however ready to walk up Scarfell in 2 weekend's time so will keep you up to speed on the time it takes and how I'm feeling afterwards. Aim to do it as quickly as possible and push myself really hard to see how quick I can do it.

May 15th

Well climbed Scarfell. Left home at 4.00 am and arrived at Wasdale Head at 6.30 with Pyrex my dog climbed up in 1 hour 50minutes and back down in 1 hour 10 minutes. Pleased but will try and do it a bit quicker next time. Met loads of people doing the 3 peaks challenge who were on the way back down all on their second peak having arrived at 4.30am. Ben Nevis was by all accounts a bit of a challenge in the dark; we shall see.

May 17th

Back to the Lakes for bank holiday weekend in May so will climb Skiddaw which is near to our campsite. Will keep you all posted.

Sunday May 30th

Climbed Skiddaw today with Ali Hornsby, knackered for the 1st 20minutes then seemed to slip into the walk both got up in just under 2hours and back down on a very hairy route mostly jogging in about 1 hour.

Friday 4th June

Received instructions from BMF on the finer details of the challenge, where to meet, times etc.

Sunday 6th June

Went around Simmonside and walked for 1 hour 40 minutes with Pyrex; boots seem good and rest of the kit is ok. Next weekend meeting BMF in Brecon beacons for a training seesion should be fun !!!.

Training Weekend with BMF Sunday 19th June.

Joined everyone on Sunday at 11 am and then walked straight up Pen-y-fan process of natural selection to see which group i needed to join for the 3 peaks challenge which is looming ever closer. The day went well and the pace was fine. The killer was the 9 1/2 hour drive home back to Northumberland by which stage I couldn't walk very well. Will need to go back to Lakes for one last push and now going to progress to speed walking.
