Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page as a tribute to the lfe of George Dayantis, English & Greek ultra distance runner, who passed away suddenly on 6th June 2011.
Approaching the young age of 50, George had not fully reached his potential. He was still improving and broke the record for 12 hours in Crawley (2010), by running 88 miles. He was also 3-times winner of the Barry 40 (2009-2011) and holds the Greek national record for 30 miles and 50km (2011). Pictured here, he was selected to run for England in the Anglo-Celtic 100km plate, and came a very creditable 5th overall.
He has been given full honours by his club, Christchurch Runners, and was awarded runner of the year in 2008.
In the Barry 40 in 2010, what was remarkable is that he achieved his best marathon time (2:48:20) with 14 miles to go!!
He was an inspriration to many (at work as well as in running) and continues to be.
He was much loved by his family: Carole who endured all the training and his determination to do his best, and our deepest sympathies to her and to his brilliant children, Alex, Harry & Katy who will miss him so much.
