Niemann-Pick UK are a small charity which rely entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising to enable them to continue their work in supporting children, adults and families affected by Niemann-Pick disease.

Niemann-Pick Diseases are a group of rare genetic diseases.

Niemann-Pick Disease types A and B are very rare genetically inherited lysosomal storage disorders in which harmful quantities of a fatty substance called sphingomyelin build up in the body’s organs.

Niemann-Pick disease type C (NP-C) is an extremely rare genetic disorder arising from neuronal accumulation of glycosphingolipids, due to abnormal lipid trafficking, causing structural and functional damage in cells and tissues.Niemann-Pick Type C Disease (NP-C) is a rare, genetically inherited and neurologically progressive, disease in which quantities of fatty substances accumulate in the brain and other major organs. The brain, central nervous system, liver and spleen are all affected.

Neimann-Pick UK offer advice and support to patients and their families. They promote research and raise awareness about this rare condition, which in time will increase recognition of symptoms and support research into new treatments.

In January I will be taking part in the craziness that is the Rickshaw Run.

The Plan: A 3,500km pan-Indian adventure in a 7 horsepower glorified lawnmower, starting in Cochin and ending (hopefully) in Jaisalmer.

No set route, no back-up, no way of knowing if we're going to make it. The only certainty is that we will get lost, we will get stuck and we will break down.

Please note that every penny donated by you to sponsor my crazy actions will go to this charity that is very close to my heart. (All my expenses are already paid, I am not fundraising for money towards these funds).
