Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Gaylord was one of a kind! An amazing husband, dad, grandad and of course a very talented hairdresser. Him and Tracy have 5 daughters and 4 Grandchildren. He had so much more to give.
on the 2nd of May Gaylord began to have flu like symptoms, he even began to think he may have had a tummy bug. We rested him up with plenty of fluids and the next day he began to feel better but was left with a back ache. The next day he got up, he said he felt so much better he even asked to take his daughters on the school run.
When he got back his wife noticed a purple bruise on his knee. Concerned she rung the doctors who were happy to just get someone to ring him back later, she didn't trust this so she then rung for an ambulance. All of Gaylords observations came back normal but Tracy insisted he was taken to be looked at in hospital.
By this point the purple marks had spread further up his legs. The hospital still did not seem concerned until Gaylord started to feel pain in his legs. Tracy pleaded that someone came and gave Gaylord antibiotics as he suddenly took a turn for the worse. 3 hours after being in hospital we was told Gaylord would be put in to an induced coma as his organs were shutting down. He fought hard on a life support machine for two days.
They still did not know what was wrong with Gaylord until he sadly passed away on the 6th of May surrounded by his loving family. He had pneumococcal meningitis and septicimia.
People need to be aware of what a fast and dangerous disease this is, and all symptoms! With no warning, we didn't even get to say goodbye. There is a hole we can never fill. No family should have to go through this! Please donate to prevent this happening and raise awareness!
Thank you,
Tracy, Chloe, Megan, Jessie, Lois and ruby x
God bless Gaylord X
We are going to do a charity walk from Hastings pier to Eastbourne pier on Sunday the 28th of August to help raise money for meningitis. Please donate to help raise awareness!
