It’s hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since Sue and I took part in Jonjo Heurman’s Route 66 walk in aid of Cancer Research UK. Jonjo has organised another walk this February “Boot it for Bobby”
His next challenge will see him dribble a football from Southend United to West Ham United. The walk will cover 50 miles in 5 days and he will be dribbling a customised football that will represent cancer.
Sue and I will be walking again this year and every penny raised is a penny towards a cure being discovered to beat this awful disease, one that has claimed the life of so many, including Sue's mum, Shirley Marriott, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 54 and died two and a half years later.
We also walk in the memory of Uncle’s Joe Keeley, Oliver Nicholas, Ron Mundy & Ronnie Rolph, the dad of our friend Cherie, all taken from us far too young, along with every other person who has lost their fight against this terrible disease
Please see below for a little information on Jonjo as well as links to the event website.

My name is Jonjo and I am 11 years old.
I'm raising funds and awareness for The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK in memory of my Nanny Lyn who died from bowel cancer. My football hero Bobby Moore who also died from the same disease. Most of the funds I raise come from my annual walks and amazing challenges.
My next challenge will see me dribble a football from Southend United to West Ham United. I will cover 50 miles in 5 days and will be dribbling a customised football that will represent cancer. I will have a spare football and I am asking people young and old to come and dribble with me and help me give cancer the boot for Bobby.I always walk during February half term so I don't miss school and it is always around the anniversary of when my Nanny and Bobby both died from bowel cancer. Nanny died 17th February and Bobby died 24th February.
I will start at Southend United and will dribble my football through the Essex towns of Southend, Rayleigh, Basildon,Wickford, Billericay, Brentwood, Hornchurch, Romford, Dagenham, Ilford,& Barking on my way to Upton Park.
I will be collecting for The Bobby Moore Fund all the way and I hope I raise lots of money. If you are an individual or a football team wishing to join the challenge please use the links on this page to find out more and register.
My last day is always really special because I carry flowers in memory of my Nanny and Bobby Moore and all of the people listed on my memorial tshirt. I lay the flowers at the Barking Road statue at a special memorial service when I call out all of the names of the people I have walked in memory of.
