Story

On Sunday 3November GVI Cap Ternay will be raising money to buy Christmas Presents for the Presidents Village Children's Home which is GVI Seychelles’ Charitable Trust.

We are asking the men of Cap Ternay to put down their razors for the month of November and let it all grow out! Starting Sunday 3 November every man participating must be clean shaven and ready to start the challenge. Thursday 28 November sees the start of the competition for the most originally styled beard. Each man will be given a Lady or two to help support them along their bearded journey. Does your man have the first week itch? Ladies time for you to step in and support your man. The ladies of Cap Ternay also will have the final say in the Beard style to be sported on Thursday 28 November. Daily photos their progress will be taken and uploaded onto our Facebook and Twitter Page.

The Presidents Village Children’s Home cares for children who are orphans or have parents that are not able to look after them. Some have been abused while others have disabilities or learning difficulties. All are in need of care and the home provides a safe environment for them to live. The President’s Village is currently home to approximately 60 children, ages 6 months to 18 years.

GVI volunteers do extra-curricular activities with children from the President’s Village as part of their expedition here in Seychelles. Volunteers take the kids out on weekly snorkels, teaching them about various marine creatures while having fun splashing around and giving the kids some much needed individual attention. Volunteers also do quarterly Creole Days at the President’s Village, which is a day of arts, crafts, fun and games for all of the children at the home. This year the volunteers have completed a new mural at the President’s Village, painting a colorful map of Seychelles on the wall.

All the money we raise during this event will go towards purchasing Christmas presents for all the children currently living at the president’s village.

Friends and family across the globe can support the volunteers and the President’s Village by making a donation online. All contributions are greatly appreciated and go directly to the GVI’s President’s Village Charitable Trust account. Be sure to note your volunteer’s name in the comments section.

Help us reach our goal of £500 by October 28, every penny helps!
