We fund bone cancer research & grant wishes to seriously ill people #makingmemories

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for considering sponsoring me for the Wobbleberries Challenge and my quest to complete a British Eventing One Day Event in 2017.

The Wobbleberries Challenge was set up to continue the work of the inspirational Hannah Francis, a promising young event rider who sadly died of cancer at the age of 18.  During her illness Hannah set up the charity Willberry Wonder Pony (www.willberrywonderpony.org) to raise money for cancer research and to support people with the illness.

Hannah campaigned tirelessly for the cause despite being seriously ill.  She set and achieved some significant riding challenges along the way.  Her great charity work is being continued by her family.

We Wobbleberries number about 1000 and are a varied lot, quite a few of us getting on in years -my horse Alf and I have a combined age of 80 and Alf is the youngster!  We are gradually realising that we need to make a big step up in our riding.  Our goal is to compete in a British Eventing BE80 event during the 2017 season.  For the non-horsey a one day event comprises a dressage test, a round of showjumping and a cross country course.  The jumping height is 80 cms.  Some of you may not think this is very high, indeed you probably rate your chances of jumping that high yourself.  The trick is to do it on the horse!  Fingers crossed Alf and I will manage to do that.

The Challenge is not just a one off event but a "journey" (sorry about the use of the J word) with ups and downs along the way (no pun intended).  I will let you know how I am getting on and when and where I will complete my event.  The photos below are of a recent training event - at least Alf seems to know what he is doing.

Thanks in advance for your support and sponsorship - let's Kick Cancer's Butt!
