Story
The RNLI volunteer life boat crews are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week , 365 days a year risking their own lives to save those in distress at sea. This charity was chosen by Katie who has had first-hand experience of the RNLI in action: -
“When I was younger I was out on my Dads boat with my family in Falmouth, a net that had been cut loose from a fishing boat got caught in the propeller causing the engine to cut out. We were unable to cut the line and were drifting towards the base of a rocky cliff. We needed help and we needed it fast. My Dad called out a mayday over the radio and the RNLI came straight out to us, jumped aboard, attached a tow line and got us safely back to shore. They were incredible.”
94% of the RNLI’s funding is from donations, they receive no UK government funding yet they are a fundamental service in saving lives at sea. Every penny that we raise will saves lives at sea.
