Story

Andy,Paul and Glynn are Driving a 35 year old car 2000 miles in 48 hours

This may sound like a crazy idea but it is for Charity.  Andy Cook, Paul Bodiam and Glynn Davis will be taking part in the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability run in October 2014 using Andy's 1979 Triumph Dolomite. This charity fund raising event which has been held bi-annually since 1966 starts and ends in London on a trip around the British mainland on a route via John O'Groats and Lands End. In order to qualify for a successful completion the entrants need to visit 18 pre arranged check points within 48 hours, a distance of around 2,000 miles. Sponsorship for this event is donated to a different chosen charity each year All entrants fund the expenses for the journey and entry fee out of their own pockets ensuring that all sponsorship funds are donated to the charity. This year over 100 Classic Triumph cars will attempt the journey and will be raising money for the charity “Macmillan Cancer Support”, the combined sponsorship target is to raise at least £65,000 so if you are willing to sponsor Andy,Paul or Glynn it would be really appreciated.

This is the 5th time Andy has entered this event and the 3rd time for Paul. Andy & Paul have teamed up for thisevent previously in 2008 and successfully completed it in Andy’s Triumph GT6. This time around we are using a somewhat less cool and less powerful car, Andy’s Poo Brown Triumph Dolomite 1500HL known affectionately as “The Flying Log”

Glynn is a first time entrant to the Round Britain run but is no stranger to Triumphs, he has owned a Dolomite Sprint for many years and he and his newly wed wife Ann-Marie both own Triumph Spitfires.

The Chosen Charity Macmillan Cancer Support is particularly poignant to us this year as a good Triumph friend of our’s Carol Boyland from the Isle of Wight lost her brave battle with cancer earlier in the year.
