This is the third time I have organised The FireFlies Antipodes Tour to ride and raise money for The Snowdome Foundation.  We return to the South Island of New Zealand to ride nearly 1000kms over six days with the collective goal of raising $50,000. We have with us experienced riders, but also a few who are very new to the bike. 

It is such an awesome experience - to be so completely and utterly exhausted both physically and emotionally - but to then think of the people suffering through blood cancers and wondering what their future will be and if they even have a future. Focussing on this thought at the time when you are most hurting really puts life into perspective. If we can help others, we have a duty to do so in some way, shape or form.

Seeing first hand the work that Snowdome do in bringing resources to clinicians, scientists and doctors is a very humbling experience. To hear from and meet patients who are going through treatment and trials funded by Snowdome is a life changing experience. We cannot place enough importance on the urgency of saving peoples lives, extending their lives and what this means to them, their families, friends and loved ones. This is why we ride - to raise money that has a direct impact.
