Story
I’m Carmen, one half of Northside Locals. As well as a lover of all things cycling, I’m a nurse and Pilates instructor. Two years ago I was medical support for the Fireflies tour of Tasmania so am super excited to be joining as one of the riders this year.
I’m riding for my beloved Dad. He overcame non-Hodgkinson’s Lymphoma twice after treatment that may not have been possible without the research that goes into blood cancers. I am also doing it for my uncle David who, after being diagnosed with Leukaemia earlier this year, died just 3 weeks later. As a nurse I care for people living with cancer on a daily basis and to see their courage in the face of such an overwhelming diagnosis will keep me going up those hills.
I'm Malachi, the other half of Northside Locals. I'm riding for my parents whom I lost both to cancer. They were too young to go. It would be good to eradicate all forms of cancer. When riding the hills of New Zealand, I'm sure at times it'll be tough. But nothing as tough as those battling with cancer. Therefore, I ride for THOSE WHO SUFFER
