Story
On Sunday 6th April Mark and I are walking 10k at Wilton House, Wiltshire to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson's UK.
We are walking the 10k in memory of my lovely mum who was diagnosed at only 49 years old and who lived with Parkinson's for 17 years until she passed away in 2006. She was a very kind and gentle lady who never complained and lived life as full as she could despite the restrictions Parkinson's and later Parkinson's related dementia imposed on her. She always maintained her mischevious sense of humour, her strength of mind and her ability to make everything seem ok and safe even when times were tough.
She was a real inspiration to me and I miss her everyday. I am very grateful for the times we shared and for the mum she was. I never saw the illness, just my wonderful mum who loved her 5 cats, chocolate (especially when it was mine!), collecting stuff, Disneyland and taking the mickey out of her daughter! I wasn't able to save her but I hope by taking part in fundraising events such as this, a cure will be found to help the many thousands of people suffering from this debilitating disease.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for donating to Parkinson's UK. xxx
