Story
Dear Family and Friends,
In March 2020, I will be embarking on my next adventure... a crossing of the Arctic Circle Trail on fat bike.
The Arctic Circle Trail is a 200KM stretch from the Russel Glacier to the fishing town of Sisimiut on the west coast of Greenland. On the way, there will be no town, no cell phone reception but extreme temperatures (as low as -30 degrees), mountains, vast frozen plains, secluded lakes, arctic animals, and … 10 incredible and intrepid women who will be the first all-female team to attempt this trail.
Why are we doing this?
This once-in-a-lifetime expedition will raise funds for UN Women - the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women.
Our expedition is entirely self-funded, which means that 100% of the funds raised here will go to UN Women, and their programmes supporting the economic empowerment of women in rural areas of Asia, more specifically, in countries most affected by climate change, such as Vietnam, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Every dollar counts
$25 could provide leadership and self-esteem workshops to women and girls to give them the skills and confidence to response to these climate risk challenges.
$100 could help to set up livelihood projects that empower women business leaders in agriculture to manage their business in at risk areas.
$500 could help us to work with government to develop post-disaster needs assessments to inform disaster recovery strategies and national disaster management planning
$1000 could allow us to keep a safe house open for women and children fleeing natural disaster for one week.
Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity and for being part of my story!
Fanny
