Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some people do sporting events and some people abstain from certain things in aid of fundraising. My ideas is to give up Facebook, an integral part of my daily communications, for one week from Mon 11th June - Sun 17th June 2012. I am doing this in aid of two charities, this page being for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA). (My other page is here http://www.justgiving.com/FBfreeAYME)
YAA has been one of my favourite charities ever since they saved my friend's life in 2005. I'm supporting them in order to repay my gratitude and also to keep the helicopters flying, as you never know when you may need the service yourself, especially in the rural Dales where the nearest hospital can be over an hour's journey away via country road.
It costs £7200 each and every day to keep the YAA running. On average, a hospital is a 10 minute flight away for YAA patients, and specialist treatment centres are a 15 minute flight away. My target is to raise £150, which would keep one of the two helicopters flying for 30 minutes, equating to 3 lifesaving flights to hospital. Beating this target would be fantastic.
So please dig deep and donate now.
