Story

Thank you for visiting the Eynsham Firefighters fundraising page for the Fire Fighters Charity.

We are going to be electrocuted, plunged into iced cold water and covered in mud!

We are a team of on-call firefighters from Eynsham Fire Station in Oxfordshire.

We all successfully completed the London West Tough Mudder (a team-orientated 12 mile extreme obstacle course) on the 6th May 2017 in Henley.

The team was Dave Bragg, Paul Ganderton, Colin Jacob, Laurence Jennings, Chris Johnson, Dave Keep, James Newton, Lewis Rankin, Simon Ridler, Dave Smith and Stuart Smith. We were also really pleased to be joined by our Station Manager Guy Dunkley, his son Morgan Dunkley and Dave Smith’s son Jai Smith.

We did this to honour all the past Eynsham Firemen and women that have served before us.  We are incredibly proud to be Eynsham Firefighters and we consider it an absolute privilege to serve our Community.

We want to acknowledge and thank all the firefighters (and their families) that have served at Eynsham before us; it was their courage and professionalism, their hard work, dedication and commitment, their training, nurturing and wisdom which they passed down, that has made us so proud of the Station we have today.

We have compiled a Roll of Honour listing every Eynsham Firefighter that has served since Eynsham Volunteer Fire Brigade was formed back in 1936.  We proudly wore special T shirts with this Roll of Honour printed on it.

We also hope to raise awareness, support and lots of money for charities that are close to our hearts.

In the run up to this members of the Team have done several high profile training events and challenges to raise money and promote community, fire and road safety. Including Dry January, Row 453, 4 Minute Team Row competition, Row 365 & Emergency Services Day, a Charity Collection and 365 Alive Fire & Road Safety Day, Eynsham Carnival 2016, Tough Mudder South West 2016, Oxford Half Marathon 2016, Eynsham 10k, and the OX5 Run, to name just a few.

We also made some road and fire safety videos including one for The Mannequin Challenge to promote road safety and hammer home the message of not using your mobile phone while driving. This has been viewed over 14 million times and shared around the globe -

We are raising money for Cancer Research, Helen & Douglas House and the Fire Fighters Charity. Donations on this page will go to the Firefighters Charity.

If you would like to make a donation, however small, it would be really appreciated.

We also have pages for Cancer Research UK and Helen & Douglas House.

Thirteen of us completed a Tough Mudder in August 2016 but due to injury Dave Keep was unable to participate, so we did another with him in May 2017 (cheers Dave!).
