We fund bone cancer research & grant wishes to seriously ill people #makingmemories

Story

This summer I have set myself a new goal...The Wobbleberries
Challenge!

I have entered a British horse riding event, the Hopetoun Horse Trials on the 30th June 2018.  This is a one day event to raise money for the wonderful Willberry Wonder Pony Charity founded by Hannah Francis in March 2016. This is a one day event that includes; Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country over jumps up to 80cms high and just as wide.

It has taken me and my horse Rosie around 4 years of training to get to this point, which isn’t an easy thing to do with a young family. I have also been working hard on my personal fitness and at the start of the year I was unable to run for 1 minute without stopping. However, I can
now run 5K with ease.

Please sponsor me and Rosie for this event, your help and support will help raise funds for a remarkable and inspirational charity.

Why am I doing this?

Hannah Francis, a hugely talented young event rider, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in May 2015 at the age
of just 17 years old.  The prognosis was very poor indeed and Hannah
subsequently endured many months of painful and debilitating treatment, fighting the disease with extraordinary courage and dignity.  Hannah’s sheer determination was plain to see and she defied all medical opinion, continuing to ride right up until her tragically early passing at only 18 years of age on 1st August 2016.

With this in mind, Hannah founded her charity, Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony, in March 2016 to raise money to fulfil two principal
objectives – to fund research into osteosarcoma fulfil Hannah's wish that no-one with a diagnosis of osteosarcoma in the future would have to endure the bleak prospects and archaic treatment regime that she had to go through and to provide equestrian experiences (“Willberry’s Wishes”) to seriously ill people in the hope that these experiences inspire others in the same way as they did Hannah, bringing a little happiness and hope during the darkest of times. For Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony Charity to grant a wish, the person needs to be a UK resident and fighting a serious or life threatening condition, or an
immediate family member of someone suffering from a terminal
illness.
