Story
Jack Blocki - Bomber Pilot, Ocean Yachtsman and Episkopi Hash House Harrier died on the 12th of September 2010, in his 89th year.
Jack escaped from Poland and the advancing German forces to the UK in 1939, enlisted in the Royal Air Force and trained to become a Bomber Command pilot. Of the 125,000 who served with the Command during WW2 only 65 pilots completed two Operational Tours – Jack was one of them. He was awarded the Virtuti Militari – the Polish equivalent of the Victoria Cross. In retirement Jack extensively sailed the Mediterranean and completed an astonishing 1585 runs with the Episkopi Hash.
The Bomber Command Memorial was very dear to Jack. Thereby, at his funeral a collection of £812 was accrued. The Epi’ Hash, in memory of Jack, now aims to increase this to ... the skies the limit!
