Story
About 4 months ago I signed up to run a half marathon to support my nephew when I could barely run 800m let alone anywhere near 13 miles. My training hasn't been perfect, trying to fit around hectic festival schedule, but I'm still set to line up at the start of the Robin Hood half Marathon on 24th September.
What would really help encourage me over the finish line is knowing I've helped to raise money for a cause close to my family's heart.
I signed up to run because I considered the complete hell my brother and his wife Hilary have been living through since my nephew William was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Through the chemo and the radiation and the uncertainty, I have no words that can convey how strong they have had to be every day. The tiredness and lethargy I feel before I set out for a training run and pains I feel during the running is NOTHING compared to what they have been through.
Using Canabidiol (CBD) was a last resort treatment option after the doctors had said William only had 6 months left to live. It was only considered after the invasive surgery, the chemo that nearly caused him to loose his hearing, the radiation that made him so ill and after having to process the reality that there were no further treatment options available.
Please help me to raise money for continued research into treatments for childhood brain tumours. I hope one day other parents and children can be spared some of the hell my family has been through.
