Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page in memory of Eric.
Support from the community, school and the public has been very generous: sending messages, donations and offering compassionate and encouraging support. We are truly and eternally thankful. We’ll always remember Eric and smile.
Eric lost a friend to cancer when he was 12 years old. As he grew older he learnt more about Marie Curie and their vision, he felt strongly about the work they did. This inspired him to make a difference to people fighting cancer. At age 15 he dedicated himself to raise money and raise awareness for Marie Curie by shaving his ever-remarkable Afro off to a smooth baldhead, which would capture and hold the attention of those who knew him; observing the unexpected change, curiosity would prompt them to querying him. Eric would relief them by telling them his vision.
Initially he raised £70. He felt it wasn’t enough so he maintained his brave vision. Eventually he raised an impressive £350 in 3 months. Unfortunately, he passed away the day before he was scheduled to present the money to Marie Curie.
He was passionate to help – yet – when praised and offered rewards for his doings, he would turn them down and remind us of the reward he gained: doing something for someone who could never repay him!
The funds raised will be used in a special way, as an ever-lasting tribute for Eric and will support Marie Curie, reflecting his caring and compassionate personality. Your donations will help Marie Curie be there for terminally ill people right until the end. Let us fulfil his vision by helping others ourselves.
