Story
A song for the nation....
If football truly is the people’s game, then who better than the people to record the anthem for the nation? Written by Jon Edwards and Jasper Ward, The Greasy Spoons’ ‘England’s One’ was a hit for the 2006 World Cup and will now be re-recorded with the schoolchildren of England as the stars!
The song will be recorded primarily at London’s prestigious Premises Studios but then thousands of English schoolchildren will have the opportunity to perform on a hit record when the studio goes mobile and aims to visit 50 schools in 30 days with an aim of recording 10,000 schoolchildren and turning them into chart-toppers and raising loads of money for Cancer Research, at the same time, as all proceeds from the sales will go to the Cancer Research Fund
All schools have to do, to get involved, is to plan a day of fundraising in aid of Cancer Research and in return, the England’s One team will visit the school to record as many of them as possible performing. This can be done in the school hall, gym, sports hall or even outside (weather permitting), although the students will need to practice during their form/tutorial time to make it a truly spine-tingling, thunderous sound! More information is available in the ‘Schools’ section.
The recording is the brainchild of Jasper Ward. Until December 2013, Jasper was a highly successful outstanding teacher, at the Chafford School in Rainham, Essex. He had also had plenty of experience of taking schools to the top of the charts, having written the Moyo releases of 2010, with ‘Love Makes the World Go Round’, 2011 with ‘Greatest Chance to Shine’ and in 2012 with ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger’, which combined the talents of students from the Chafford School, along with four primary schools from Rainham. All three songs made the Text Download Top 10 Chart, with ‘Love Makes the World Go Round’ and ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger’ both taking the coveted number 1 spot!
Scheduled for release on June 9 to mark the start of the Brazil 2014 World Cup, ‘England’s One’ aims to go one better and take the schoolchildren of England to the top of the national charts!
