Story
Thank you for visiting my just giving page. On April 26th, my dad and I will be running the London marathon. We will be running it in memory of my Grandad, who was a dedicated athlete who completed the marathon various times. He completed his last marathon at the age of 80 where he proudly ran for the Brain and Spine foundation, who he had received help from earlier in his life. I remember this day being very rainy, with all the family cheering from the side-lines! He was very supportive to all of his grandchildren and supported me a great deal with my academic and sport commitments.
To make the run a bit more competitive, my dad and I have decided to take a mini table tennis around with us and play against each other at different points on the route.
Two million people in the UK are disabled by a neurological condition, such as multiple sclerosis, stroke or brain tumour. More people die from brain and spine conditions that from heart disease or cancer. Despite this, neurological services receive less funding than the other major causes of death and disability. There are also only a handful of specialists and so many of those affected never see a specialist when we know specialist care can reduce death and disability by up to 30%.
The charity supports more than
100,000 people and their relatives living with a neurological condition. It
helps cover the cost of a professionally staffed helpline and helps develop
specialist training for GPs and other health professionals and contributes to
research projects into these neurological conditions.
Thank you again!
