Great North Run 2022 · 11 September 2022 ·

The Great North Run needs no introduction. As one of the most iconic Half Marathon in the UK, we want our team of Roy's Runners to hit the streets and raise both awareness and money so the UK's Lung Cancer Patients can expect better.

Story

This year I’m taking part in the Great North Run to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. I want to run in memory of my lovely Mum who I lost 4 years ago to this devastating disease. It’s hard to put into words how losing her has affected me, but she was my best friend and there will always be a huge gap in my life where she should be. I only took up running after she passed away, and she would have laughed at me for doing it but also, I hope, be a little bit proud. If I can help stop another family having to go through this unbearable loss, then it will all be worth it. I know a lot of people run the GNR, and all for fabulous causes, but if you can spare a few pennies for me, I would be very grateful.
