As you may already know, the oceans make up 71 percent of the total of the Earth's surface, with over 95 percent of it still unexplored.

The ocean supports the life of nearly 50 percent of all species on Earth and helps sustain that life providing 20 percent of the animal protein and five percent of the total protein in the human diet.

So while we may often forget or disregard the vast importance of our marine ecosystems, they also play a vital role in our own survival. Therefore, it is of our own interest as well that these beautiful habitats are maintained and protected from degradation by unsustainable fishing practices, eutrophication, toxic pollution, aerosol contamination, and emerging diseases.

Envision it as another version of ourselves, we wouldn't want people invading our beautiful homes, destroying our possessions, and hurting or killing friends or family, would we? A bit extreme, but it happens.

So please dig deep and donate now. Your donation will help thousands of species and habitats around the Mesoamerican barrier reef area and the Yucatan Peninsula.
