Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In 2000, my first husband, Andy, whom many of you will have known, died from a brain tumour. Over that year, Isabel Hospice nurses and medical team helped him, and me, in many ways: with care at home, at the Day Hospice and in the in-patient unit.
One of the sports Andy and I enjoyed together was swimming. We did the Swimathon a couple of times, employing his mother to count our lengths as we ploughed up and down the pool.To mark the 10 years, I have decided to undertake a few swimming challenges, with Chip's support in aid of Isabel Hospice. These have already started - Chip & I took part in the Isabel Hospice Star Swim on 21 February, completing 2 miles between us. In April we completed the Swimathon, covering 7.5kms between us, and last weekend (19th June), I completed the Great East Swim near Ipswich, swimming 1 mile in open water in rain, hail and wind, wind, wind! The Great London Swim - a mile in the Royal Victoria Docks - was on 3 July. Some say I now look like a wrinkly old prune, but hey, what's new? Anyway, I've enjoyed the swims so much that I have entered tehy Great Salford Swim in September.
