Story
On Sunday 9 October I will be taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon and raising money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. As many of you may know, the Royal Marsden Hospital is a centre of excellence for cancer treatment and in 2013/14 provided wonderful care for my dad, Maurice. Although we lost him that summer, the Marsden did everything to keep dad with us for as long as possible. They not only gave him the best shot medically but treated him with kindness, respect and as an individual (an amazing achievement for a hospital that cares for 50,000 patients a year). He was immensely grateful for that, and so were we.
The Royal Parks Half falls on what would have been his 85th birthday weekend, so it will be very special to remember dad as I run and to say thank you to the Marsden. Their pioneering research has saved many lives and strives to ensure all patients have the best treatment options.
