forget me not walk

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and please take a few short minutes of your time to read this- You probably think we are mad for doing this or inviting you to do it with us ... which maybe we are, but we know that showing support and raising awareness for those affected by Alzheimer's would make a huge difference to so many lives.
Ena Meney our mum/gran passed away this year after living with Alzheimer's. We were so lucky to have her and to have the supportive, strong and loving family that we do. Not everyone is that fortunate. So the organisation- Alzheimer's Scotland are that support and extended family for many.
Ena began bagging Munros with Tom our dad/papa later on in her life. It was a source of joy, pride and accomplishment and more importantly strong and emotive memories for her. And you don't need us to tell you the importance of memories, especially to those who have experience of Alzheimer's. But Ena still remembered those memories even when other ones weren't so clear and it still brought her joy. So did her love of music.
This is what inspired Rachel to help this way in particular in organising this event to climb our first Munro! ...Ben Lomond- with a group of supportive and amazing people and placing a personal forget-me-not stone on the cairn at the top! Then with good luck some of Rachel's lovely musical friends will play us a short gig of some older songs while we rest and refresh and take lots of pictures before heading back down to celebrate our accomplishment. We can work together - to climb the Munro and to help Alzheimer's Scotland continue to support and advise and make a difference to so many lives. At the very least it will be a day of fun and laughter and friendships! C'mon...... you know you want to ....
