Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On September 26th I will take to the catwalk at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow to raise money for Breast Cancer Care (BCC). BCC is the charity that held my hand throughout my cancer treatment. Your donation is greatly appreciated and will make a significant difference to women of all ages facing a breast cancer diagnosis.
On 26th May 2011 we welcomed our gorgeous baby boy, Joshua, into this world 4 weeks early in order for me to start life saving treatment. I had been diagnosed with breast cancer just two days prior.
Joshua was our much wanted son, brother to the world's best big sister, Sophie, first grandson for both families, who have 10 grand daughters between them. Auntie Hazel especially adores him and says he is half hers! Aaawh!!!!
I was given a week to bond with Joshua before treatment started however he developed viral meningitis and we spent all of this time in the children's unit at Stirling Royal Infirmary.
Fast forward nearly two years and I have successfully completed surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, reconstructive surgery and currently have no evidence of disease. Joshua has also recovered fully.
Recently, while out with my friends they said I had a charmed life!? - giggling they said I may have had breast cancer...BUT!!!!!....have also......
Managed to meet the Queen when she opened the Oncology unit during my 2nd Chemo. I desperately wanted still to have hair (Eeeech!) but it had just fallen out. I was so worried about being on the news with no hair but blink and you would have missed me!!!! Tee hee hee
After two children have had plastic surgery and now have the body of a supermodel!? Whew Whoo!
AND!!!!
Am a real LIVE catwalk supermodel featured regularly in the Daily Record! Tee hee hee! So funny! Made me laugh and laugh!
All joking aside, how great is it to be able to look back and laugh. What strikes me is just how far we have come. Facing a cancer diagnosis is devastating however with the support of Richard and our family and friends we have managed to get through the most difficult of times and what is amazing is we are still smiling.
Every morning you are handed 24 golden hours. They are one of the few things in life that are free. If you had all the money in the world, you couldn't buy an extra hour. It is therefore so very important what you do with this very precious treasure. Having breast cancer has taught me to be grateful for everything that I have, to make sure that my life is filled with people I love doing things that make me happy. I dream of all the things yet to come and every night when I go to sleep I wish with all of my heart that our dreams will come true x
I feel very honoured to have been chosen to represent Breast Cancer Care in their celebrity catwalk Show. It has given me a renewed lease of life and the confidence to step back out into the spotlight - at last I have my sparkle back!!!!
Yipeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
The services that Breast Cancer Care provide are funded primarily by donations. No matter how large or small your donation it will ensure they can continue to do so. I cannot thank them enough for what they did for me and my family - we quite simply would have struggled through my treatment without them
We will be forever grateful to BCC and thank you for supporting us in our fundraising.
