Story

Why do I want to TREK TO BASE CAMP EVEREST,a question people have asked.

The answer is that last year my Company won a really special award  and I wanted to do something to commemorate it ,something so far out of my own comfort zone that would reflect how pleased I was to be chosen as one of the winners.

I wanted to do something memorable and something that would give something back to my local community . Those that know me know that I am bit of a workaholic , I have spent the last 10 years building up my company and a great team of people . I am pretty unfit and although I go to the gym sporadically I needed some event to focus on . I read about this TREK in a magazine and could already hear people saying I was mad and  could not possibly do it .The same sort of things I heard when I first set my business up .

This is a personal challenge and will be self funding every aspect of the Trek . I have decided that I will attempt  to raise money for two Charities. Money raised on this page will be split 50/50.

The Charities .

Show Racism the Red Card - a Charity that works with high profile sports stars to educate young people about why racism is wrong and must be eradicated form society.

and

St Clare’s Hospice  http://www.stclareshospice.co.uk  in memory of a family friend who used to make our electrodes and never once took money for his effort. St Clare’s offers palliative care to the people of South Tyneside.

I really appreciate any donations and in particular any comments of support .  I will post more information and images about the trip on my blog.

One really pleasing aspect of this commitment is that it seems to have encouraged others around me to also  plan and carry our their own personal challenges . I wIsh them luck .

17 day TREK commences 30th April 2010  .  I will post updates on my blog  http://cellpacksolutions.blogspot.com/
