Story
I will be joining eleven other fund raisers who will be taking part in the ‘Drive for Sense’ to Romania in May this year. We will be driving from London to Bucharest in six old cars – each car will have cost us a maximum of £500. Getting six old and tired cars (and drivers) to Bucharest will be a challenge in itself!
Each of the six cars will be representing a different sport – the reason being that anyone and everyone can participate in, enjoy and benefit from sport in some way or another – our theme is ‘play is for all’.
We will be raising funds through sponsorship, challenges and donations for the Sense International – and specifically for their deafblind children’s schools in Romania. We hope to
raise in excess of £20,000. We will also be taking a range of sensory toys and games to donate to the schools.
We will be setting off from London on the 15 May and driving more than 1,500 miles through the UK, France,
Belgium, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Romania arriving in Bucharest on Friday 20 May.
In setting out on this trip we are not only seeking to raise funds for Sense International but we will also visit the
Romanian schools for deafblind children – and personally experience how the funds we raise will be used to educate and improve the lives of these children.
