One donation, one run, one more day …
I would be grateful for your generous support in raising money for East Cheshire Hospice and in memory of my late father-in-law, Frank Darlington. Frank passed away in September 2010 from malignant mesothelioma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesothelioma). Deaths from this very unpleasant disease have increased 15 fold in the UK over the last 40 years due to exposure to asbtestos during the 1950s and 1960s (http://www.hse.gov.uk/statistics/causdis/mesothelioma/index.htm) .
My personal aim is to raise enough money to pay for one day of care at East Cheshire Hospice by running the BUPA 2012 London 10k (http://www.london10000.co.uk/) on Sunday 27th May.
Despite the presence of the publically-funded NHS, hospice care in the UK receives minimal direct grant income. Instead, hospices have to rely on donations and fund-raising. East Cheshire Hospice has to fundraise almost £6000 every single day of the year simply to keep going. Your donation, small or large, will be of enormous help in supporting other patients and their families
East Cheshire Hospice (eastcheshirehospice.org.uk) cares for adults suffering from life-limiting illnesses from which there is no cure. They care for the whole person, aiming to meet all needs, whether they are medical, emotional or spiritual, or around the challenges of daily-living.
This JustGiving page makes it easy for everyone to make donations. As well as being a convenient and an easy way to make a donation, it also allows East Cheshire Hospice to claim GiftAid for all donations made by UK taxpayers. There is always something slightly pleasing about getting the tax-man to pay some money back … just that small piece of subversiveness would have put a twinkle in Frank’s eye.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
