Thank you for visiting my fundraising page in aid of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  I am fundraising for this charity because my 5 year old niece Orla, was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.  Most people think people with Type 1 Diabetes manage OK, and live a normal life.  However the reality is that although they can live an active and healthy life, a huge amount of work, monitoring, and care is required on a daly basis to keep a child healthy.  JDRF provides information and support to families in this situation, as well as funding research which will hopefully continue to improve the understanding and care for people with Type 1 Diabetes.  

The ultimate goal is to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, but before then there is significant hope of a breakthrough in the care of the condition through an 'artificial pancreas'.   Research into this is ongoing, but would be a significant improvement in the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes.

The incidence of Type 1 Diabetes is rising significantly, and therefore is impacting more and more families.  Without donations from the public the research into improving the care and possibly one day finding a cure would not be possible.  Please give as generously as you can to help the research into this condition to help improve the care for my niece and millions of others
