Story
Wendy's story: Having a heart attack is nothing like you see in the movies. There is no dramatic clutching of your heart, but I did know, intuitively, that there was something wrong. I had none of the 'Risk Factors' - this was a spontaneous rupture of an artery and thankfully all the medical teams I came across in the following 5 hours were experts. It occurred in Scotland where they believe every second counts and hence I was ambulanced to Scotland's centre of excellence where the surgeon and his team were awaiting my arrival. Thinking thoughts I never thought I would......
Douglas: "Really! shock, dread, dead, Rachel & Fraser". A serious of loosely coherent thoughts flashed through my head when I sat in A&E and was told Wendy had suffered a heart attack in October. This wasn't the Plan.......5 hours (and 100 miles) later I sat in a cardiac waiting room with Rachel (Fraser on route) and Wendy was wheeled past us sitting up and waving. The consultant and his team had found Wendy had had a spontaneous coronary artery dissection and he cleared the blockage and inserted 2 stents. The relief was palpable.
Wendy is now on the road to recovery and part of this process is the British Heart Foundation's charity 'Great wall of China trek'. We would really appreciate any donation you can give for this great charity, no matter how large of small! Thank you.
