Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Dorah and when I was just six-months old I was burned in a shack fire. My life changed irreversibly that day. Someone is writing this on my behalf because I lost my hands in that fire and I've had more that 35 surgeries to reconstruct my face. This year I turned 21!

A kind woman gave me a second lease of life; she fought for me when many wanted to give up. I call her mama now because she officially adopted me and my brother Sizwe; a burns survivor too. Her name is Bronwen Jones and with Tristan my brother, they've loved us and made us part of their family.

I was born in South Africa and spent most of my life there, but I now live in London and on September 12 we're walking through London to raise awareness for burn survivors and RAISE MONEYhttps://cdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png to support the amazing work that Children of Fire does. I was the founding child of the charity. Now more that 450 children from all over Africa have received help and many more are still in need.

I'll be walking with my brother Sizwe and friend Perlucia also a burn survivor. We're hoping to be joined by lots of volunteers. The Euston Fire Brigade Green Watch will be joining us.

This is a super worthy cause. Please help me reach my target.
