Hello all! Thanks so so much for visiting the Dingwall Academy TEENAGE CANCER TRUST page.
So far we've raised £7784.19 for Teenage Cancer Trust. The largest sum of money raised for Teenage Cancer Trust by a school in the whole of the UK!
Every day in the UK alone, six young people between the ages of 13 and 24 are told they have cancer. Every day. That's about 2100 people a year... roughly the equivalent of every single pupil in Dingwall Academy, multiplied by two. Per year.
But there is some good news. Nearly 75% of young people survive with cancer, and this is in part thanks to charities such as the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Our pupils and staff work extra hard during Teenage Cancer Trust week to ensure we maximise our fundraising whilst also enjoying ourselves! SO far we've had massive bake sale, “T” themed dressing up with Twister mats, Teacosies and Tigers filling the halls, sponsored leg waxing with some brave S6 boys, facepainting, fashion shows, nailpainting and a massive T poster on the walls where pupils could write messages of support to young people receiving treatment for cancer. BUT this year, we're going BIG.
Our aim is to CYCLE AS FAR ROUND THE UK AS WE POSSIBLY CAN. This challenge is a biggy and we'd love some help. This year we're placing a Tacx bike in the middle of our school, a virtual reality bike which will allow everyone to see exactly how far we have got. We're going to be cycling for 8 hours a day, fuelled only by the legs of 6th year pupils/staff and community members. We will all be sporting WIGGINS style sideburns and 'serious' cycling gear!
We're going to be constantly keeping you up-to-date with our "UK destination" during teenage cancer trust week 2013.
YOU can help us out by donating as little or as big as you like. Dingwallacademyseniorpr@gmail.com
