UPDATE: I ran on Sunday 23rd May - managed to complete the Scottish Half Marathon, part of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, in 2 hours and 14 seconds - that pesky 14 seconds means that at some point in the future I will be running another half marathon - I want to get under 2 hours!
Sometime shortly after New Year in a fit of madness I agreed to run the Edinburgh Half Marathon on the 23rd of May - thank goodness I didn't say I'd do the whole marathon.....
So following some sporadic training and a few long runs trying to keep up with a friend I will be running on Sunday the 23rd of May - at 8 o'clock in the morning.......mad or what....
I've chosen the Scottish Charity 500 Miles (named after the Proclaimers song) run by the inspirational Olivia Giles who lost her limbs to meningococcal septicaemia and has chosen to address the needs of those who are less able to access support. Her charity provides prosthetic limbs in Malawi and Zambia, 2 of the poorest countries in the world and makes a huge difference to the lives of many. It seems appropriate to "run" for this charity.
