Story
One in three of us will get cancer at some point in our lives. If we don't get it ourselves, we are almost bound to have a close friend or relative who does. I was diagnosed with breast cancer just before Christmas 2010. During the roller coaster ride that followed I've met ('virtually' and in 'real life') some remarkable people.
One of these people was Karen Goodwin. In September 2011, Karen attempted to climb Snowdon in aid of Macmillan despite having breast cancer that had spread to her bones and liver. She was just 20 minutes from the top when atrocious weather forced her to turn back. She hoped to return to complete the climb but became too unwell to do so and sadly passed away in January 2013 - so we are going to reach the summit for her!
We are a group of about 50, of varying ability and health, most of whom have undergone treatment for breast cancer. However what we lack in fitness, we more than make up for in determination. On June 1st 2013 we will complete the Life Climb that Karen would dearly have loved to do. To find out more about Karen's story and Life Climb, visit www.life-climb.co.uk
